Hi, this is a personal search. After talking to folks it became obvious that others might benefit from findings as well. I'd appreciate your feedback, particularly your experiences with a bank or credit union.

My criteria: The bank or credit union must be in Utah County, or have a branch very close to the county line since the intent is to be able to walk-in for the purpose of depositing checks, checking a safe deposit box, buying discount theatre tickets, or getting a cold drink of water and using the restroom! The bank or credit must have a website since online banking is a staple of modern life. The bank or credit union doesn't necessarily have to support online bill pay, though it's preferred.

Banks vs. Credit Unions. - What a bunch of crap, grow up monkeys! The legislature needs to focus on getting rid of the food tax, fixing education, and voting themselves raises and bullet proof exclusive health care. It's arguable whether they have the mental capacity to dictate intelligent legislation regarding two selfish capitalist-pig lobbies. Serve your constituents you greedy dinosaurs, send these public airwave hogs packing. Where's the revolution party in this mind-numbing haze of humanity.

A Small Local Credit Union? Or, a Large Nation-wide Bank? This is a question folks that move ask themselves. In my case, I simply moved south a few towns, and now I find my Salt Lake based credit union to be sufficiently remote to warrant a move. God knows the interest rate they offer on my money market, savings, cd's, and IRA aren't sufficient to produce the least amount of loyalty on my part. However, in fairness, the cars loans they've carried for us have been very low interest as well. The dilemma I know face however is that when someone writes me a check (wow, folks still do this, how quaint, how annoying) I have to drive to Salt Lake to deposit it. If I go with another small local credit union, the next time the economy has a hiccup and wants to make CEOs and managers rich by stealing food from children, where will we move to next? There's a good chance the small local credit union won't be there. On the other hand large Nationwide banks are notorious for indifference and poor service. These are the folks that send you a hundred credit cards offers a month and clog up your shredder, or compromise your personal information to the dregs of society. So, what to do?
